12 Days of DIY: Sugar Lip Scrub

Sugar Lip Scrub

DIY – Sugar Lip Scrub

Welcome to Day 12 of Blisstree’s 12 Days of DIY. Today: sugar lip scrub! Keep an eye out tomorrow for a round-up of all the DIYs we’ve featured during this series,

No more chapped lips. No more scouring the internet for a DIY tutorial for an easy holiday gift. Sound good? Good, because this ridiculously simple sugar lip scrub is the perfect project for the procrastinating gift-giver.

A sugar lip scrub is great to have on hand during the upcoming chilly winter months, as it removes dry chapped skin and also moisturizes your lips. The other two DIYs I’ve shared (body spray and a rice compress) during our DIY series are pretty damn easy, but I think this one takes the cake in terms of simplicity. It’s literally two ingredients, mix, and done. Plus it’s useful, chemical-free, and fun to make.

Homemade Edible Sugar Lip Scrub

MATERIALS:

  •  small jar or container of some kind
  •  sugar
  • coconut oil

As you can see, I used a little tiny jam jar, one of those samples they give you in a basket at a restaurant (but any small container you have, as long as it closes securely, would work). I also used Trader Joe’s Organic Sugar, but any kind is good.

DO IT:

Step 1Assemble your materials.

Step 2. Mix sugar and coconut oil together until it forms a thick, slightly soupy paste.

Step 3. Put in your container.

Aaaaand done. So easy, right? In terms of ratios I used about two teaspoons coconut oil and just under two teaspoons  of sugar to make this, but depending on the size of the container you’re using, you could use less or more. Try it on your lips to make sure it’s scrubby enough but also moisturizing; after using it, your lips should feel smoother but also a little bit slick.

You can also add honey, food coloring, or maybe a couple drops of essential oil to your scrub, but it’s totally effective as is. Make up a large batch and portion it out to give as gifts to your friends, family, coworkers, roommates, anyone.
